Agent Talk
Martha Ramirez
The Accountant
Martha Ramirez is an excellent real estate agent, but her skills span far beyond contracts and open houses. She also happens to be an accountant who understands the financials behind every transaction – and she’s happy to share that expertise with her clients.
Born and raised in San Rafael, Martha studied managerial economics at UC Davis before launching a career in fund accounting.
She then decided to try her hand at real estate, and quickly realized just how compatible the two professions are.
“As an accountant, I look at balance sheets and profit/loss statements all the time. I love it. I’m always happy to help investors when they need to determine the profitability of a property.”
But it’s not just investors who benefit from Martha’s affinity for numbers.
“I love working with all types of clients. I especially enjoy teaching first-time homebuyers about all the moving parts of a real estate transaction!”
Martha recalls one of her most memorable transactions, when she helped a buyer search for the perfect home for months.
“She kept losing out to other offers, so we expanded our location search. We found her the perfect place, and she’s so happy there.”
Martha’s efforts paid off for her client in a big way, and that’s exactly why she believes perseverance is one of the most important attributes that a real estate agent can possess.
“You have to be diligent and you have to act quickly. The market doesn’t wait for anyone,” she says.
Chickens & community
When Martha isn’t working, you can find her hanging out with her partner Garrett and their newest feathered family members.
“We bought a house with chickens, so I guess we have chickens now,” she laughs.
Martha also enjoys being physically active, whether she’s in a hot yoga class, skiing, or hiking.
“The weather, water, and accessibility to the outdoors make the Bay Area an amazing place to live. There’s so much to do here!”
But she also enjoys exploring new places and can’t wait to visit Italy (home to her favorite cuisine) in the near future.
